Our Story

Golden Artisan Co-op started with a moment that changed everything, and a decision to stop waiting for space and create it.

Hi, I’m Zoe, owner of the Golden Artisan Co-op.

In late 2023, I was trying to find a place to sell my handmade products. I had built my business through markets, but as a mom of two young boys under three, that model became increasingly unsustainable. Between production, setup, childcare, and missed deadlines, it was clear something had to change.

I began reaching out to local shops, hoping to move into consignment but ran into the same barrier over and over again: full shelves and long waitlists.

That’s when it clicked. I couldn’t be the only artisan facing this.

On November 17, 2023, on my way to an appointment, I saw a commercial unit for lease and the concept for the Golden Artisan Co-op was born. I immediately began building a vendor list, determined to create a space that removed the barriers I had been running into for years.

The first location didn’t work out, but I kept going. Within days, I secured our first storefront on 10th Ave. From there, everything moved quickly.

By December 8, 2023, we opened our doors with 22 artisans.

By March 2024, we had grown to 56.

From day one, this has been a hands-on, artist-led business built from the ground up to support local makers in a more sustainable, accessible way. The co-op model allows us to keep fees low while reinvesting into the space, improving displays, and expanding opportunities for our vendors.

Since opening, we’ve continued to evolve, expanding the store, completing major renovations, and introducing new concepts like our Pantry space for food and beverage Vendors.

What started as a solution to my own problem has grown into something much bigger: a dedicated retail space designed specifically for artisans to succeed.

And we’re just getting started, with a new downtown location on the horizon, the next chapter of the Golden Artisan Co-op is already underway.
